I discovered this article on the Huffington Post last week.
It’s written by an Autism Mom named Carrie Cariello.
It’s called, “I Know What Causes Autism.”
I found this article thoughtful, unique, and fresh breath of air.
In other words, I feel this article is one of the best (and honest) articles about autism I’ve ever read. (Therefore, I’m re-posting it here.)

“Last week, I surfed the Internet and came across a headline that proclaimed autism and circumcision are linked. I couldn’t help myself. I laughed out loud.
In no certain order, I have read the following explanations for autism over the years:
Autism is caused by mercury.
Lead causes autism. Or, Autism begins with poor maternal bonding.
Certain pesticides may trigger autism.
Or, plastics.
Gluten aggravates autism spectrum disorder.
People with autism should eat more strawberries.
Too much automotive exhaust is a cause of autism.
Chemicals found on non-stick cookware may trigger autism.
Later on…
The one about the maternal bond is painful for me. I had a hard time with the baby bond thing. The little guy shrieked and whined and cried for a solid year. He slept through the night at six weeks, but then stopped at three months.”

In addition, this article felt truthful. Truthful about autism, and truthful to me.
Similarly, the author has a great perspective on autism and how it feels to have a child with autism.
In conclusion, I’d recommend you read this article. Very well done.
